Stoked Surf was born out of a passion for surfing and the surf lifestyle and started by Michelle Smith in 2009. Michelle only started surfing in her early twenties and 2 years later, left her career as Marketing Manager to embark on a four year global sojourn that took her to some of the best surf breaks in the world from California, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Chile, Mexico, Panama, Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand. Wildy passionate about spreading the incredible feeling of ‘stoke’ which changed her lifestyle and sharing the unique South African beach culture with locals and foreigners alike, Michelle returned to South Africa to start Stoked School of Surf. Michelle has combined the knowledge gleaned from her Sports Science degree with years of coaching experience to design a progressive programme to get even the most inexperienced stoked on surfing.

Today the Stoked Surf team is a dynamic mix of qualified surf coaches from various South African backgrounds. We pride ourselves in our professional yet fun approach to learning how to surf.
